Cream Puff Lip Cream in 'Fairy Cake' and 'Cotton Candy'; Collection - £2.99

Ah, liquid lipsticks. Things I did not know I could love until I went a little crazy after my January exams  and bought myself a few (too many) hump-day treats. During the spell of capitalism-induced insanity I picked up six different lip products. Don't worry - they were all drugstore, so non too pricey, but these little babies were the cheapest AND my favourite of the bunch!

'Fairy Cake' is a warm, coraly, light-terracotta colour that I think would be a nice option for the days when you fancy a bit more lip colour in the summer...

... and 'Cotton Candy' is a cool-toned dusky pink that looks great on pale skin and is a perfect "your lips but better" colour.

They have a comfortable light, texture when on the lips but as you can see here have a lovely velvety matte finish and the applicator makes it easy to throw on without a mirror. [side-note: how do people hold their hands when doing swatches? Deformed turtle was the position I apparently went for... apologies for my confused hand]

I love this product. I've been wearing Cotton Candy pretty much every day and Fairy Cake when I feel like my face needs a bit of warming up. I would definitely recommend putting on a lip balm before you first apply the lip cream, though, as although they're really smooth they don't moisturise your lips - not that I would expect that from this kind of product, but just a heads up for ya! They don't have tremendous lasting power - a couple of hours or so- but wear off really nicely and are a joy to apply because... THE SMELL. I've got two words for you - crème. brûlée.  Damn these things smell good, yet another beauty product to add to the list of things to remind myself not to eat. It's not too much if you don't like scented things, however, the smell wears off quickly after application.

They're just such easy, wearable colours and I struggle to find faults when they're at such a cheap price. The only real downside I can put to these is that there doesn't actually seem to be much product in the tube, but come on, at £2.99 how much did I expect?

FYI they come in 2 other browny-nude colours that I didn't really care for but if you're into the Jodie Marsh look then go for it!

Let The Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser; Lush

My skin is horrendus in winter, dryer than your nan's cooch and flakier than a high-school boyfriend; but recently it had been getting worse - red and lumpy in all the wrong places (there are too many crude jokes to be made here). I've now realised it's time to put down the face wipes and stop falling asleep half-clothed and cake-faced after a long night of last minute coursework writing (drinking) and sort myself out. So, I picked up this limited edition cleanser from Lush a month or so before Christmas:

The pot describes this as a gentle facial wash that helps you get ready for close-ups. What it SHOULD say is that it's a creamy, lightly exfoliating tub of fatty crack. Yeah, I said that. This shit is crack for people with fat souls: cake-eating biscuit lovers who could happily spend their days rolling in cookie dough and whipped cream. Just LOOK AT IT FOR GOODNESS SAKE:

Does that look edible to anyone else? Anyway. What I mean to convey is how beautiful the smell is. It smells like cookies and actually contains pop-corn, which I'll admit you do have to pick out unless you want broken capillaries all over your face but who doesn't love a gimmick like that? I'm sad to admit that this product actually motivates me to get out of bed in the morning because I relish the thought of rubbing such a great-smelling mush onto my cheeks. Gone are the days of chemically-smelling harsh cleansers, this makes me feel all natural and like it's really doing something for my skin, which is why I've been through a tub already. It's made looking after my skin a bit more fun and I'll be really sad when my second tub runs out because although it's rumoured to become part of the Lush permanent line, who knows when this will happen?

I like to pinch a chick pea size and massage it into my palm with a bit of warm water, rub it all over my face (especially in the extra dry areas like the sides of my nose, on my forehead etc)  and rinse. I do this day and night, twice each time - once to get off my face make-up and then to deep-cleanse my skin. It feels really soft yet moves dead skin due to the slightly grainy texture. My face is left feeling caressable afterwards and there isn't any residual muck on my face (I've wiped my face with toner after double cleansing with this and not a drop of make-up was left on the cotton pad). I wouldn't recommend using this to try and remove eye make-up, however, it doesn't work (I've tried) and although getting this in your eye isn't going to do any major damage the little grains cuddling your naked eye-ball doesn't feel too pleasant (again, I've tried).

I know this review isn't much help to anyone else while this product isn't currently in stores, and I'm not trying to 'rub it in your face' (cringe), I just had to get this out of my system. Meanwhile, if you're looking to try a Lush cleanser that's actually available, I recommend Angels On Bare Skin. It isn't quite as good as this but that's what I'll be reverting back too when this little baby runs out :'(

I've re-vamped this blog because it was too peppy before and it wasn't meshing well with my sardonic nature. After all, I'm twenty now and it's unfashionable to be so happy and optimistic all of the time. 

I want it to be more aesthetically pleasing whilst still being aware of it's own vacuousness, beautifully conceited if you will. Vanity can be pretty, I'm convinced of it. 

This was a warning post. 

On the Mend || #1 - Urban Outfitters Jumper

Hi again, I hope you had a nice weekend! 

Inspired by the lovely El at aThriftyMrs, I thought I'd start a new DIY feature on this blog in which I show an old, abandoned item of my clothing and attempt to mend it/customise it so that it's wearable again. I've lost a dress size recently and, being a student with a heavy addiction to live gigs, (why are concert tickets so expensive dag nammit?) I'm struggling to afford new clothes for the colder months. Then I realised that I'm a massive clothes hoarder and I have many an unloved skirt or top lying dead at the bottom of my chest of drawers and that it would be easy and cheap to fix them rather than go and buy a whole new wardrobe. Ok, being sensible with money might not be as fun as going on a shopping spree but learning to get better with my hands can only be a good thing, right? ;) Ahem, moving on...

Today I mended  the little hole between the neckline of a grey UO jumper I found from a couple of years back and the statement neckline made of the same fabric. I used an invisible plasticy thread I found in my mums sewing tin and stitched that baby right back up. It only took 5 minutes despite my lack of sewing skills, cost me nothing and I had something that felt new to wear this weekend - awesome :)

Oooohh.... ahhhhh.... pretty new-ish jumper. Marvel at it in all its mended glory!

 Also, I went to Alton Towers today with the family as a last day out together before I go back to uni, it was really good to spend some time together and I managed to take this mediocre picture with my phone before it ran out of battery:

Nails of the Day: Topshop 'Play for Keeps'

Today I'm wearing 'Play for Keeps' from Topshops permanent line. I'm usually really impressed with the formula of Topshop nail polishes but this one took three coats to not look patchy and you couldn't get away with trying to wear one sheer coat as it didn't cover the nail evenly. You might be thinking that the colour is a bit summery for this time of year but it looks more of a peachy-nude colour IRL and compliments my tan quite nicely I think ( I hope!)

Last week I went to London for the third time in my short life as a treat for Helena's birthday and I thought I'd show you the bits of our short trip I that immortalised on instagram :) We were there for two days and managed to see Wicked, the Damien Hirst exhibition and do a bit of casual sight-seeing in the sun although I admit I wish I could have stayed a lot longer because I really fell in love with the Tate Modern and the surrounding area. It was beautiful weather and I love the atmosphere in London; most people talk about Londoners as though they're really antisocial but it all felt very friendly and inclusive to me, just lots of different people doing their own thing and enjoying the city. Hopefully I can live there in the future for a while and then I'll have been a resident of the 3 major UK cities, aww yeeeahh. Although I'm not sure whether I'd be able to afford it, £2.58 for a tube of pringles Tesco? Are you kidding me? Not on my student budget! hehe ;)
